I made my very first corset.

it took me about three days to finish it.
day one
ironed and cut fabric. (1 hour)
assembled the shell and boning (2 hours)
called it a night

day two
assembled the lining (about 30 minutes)
attatched lining to corset (about 30 minutes)
bias bound the top (about 20 minutes)
called it a night

day three
bias bound the bottom and sides (about 30 minutes)
set the grommets (about 30 minutes)
attached the trim (about 10 minutes)

overall, the corset took me about 5 1/2 hours. It felt really good to set a goal, complete said goal, and come out with something that I think truly came out beautiful.

oh, and it's fully lined. can you deal with that?!

I also made the skirt in about thirty something minutes in between working on the corset. Bias bound and french seamed up the back center.

then i wrapped the whole shebang around my neck like a high collar because i'm gay like that.

I've changed in this year, 2009, more than I ever have any year before. I know that for certain.

Here's part two of my lookbook. I made everything pictured, again. There are some sketches of the outfits a few posts ago. It's really interesting (for me at least) to compare them and see what I have now.

fantasticalCollapse )

I'm working on a lookbook for my fall collection. It's also gonna contribute a lot for my college portfolio. I made everything pictured and of course, took the photos. Let know know what you think.

walk, walk, fashion, babyCollapse )

Manifesto, originally uploaded by Alex David Palmer.

these are some sketches for a collection i've been working on for a few months.

the collection reflects my vision of an eerie, post-apocalyptic chess match.

I have the three white outfits made, only awaiting certain finishes (hems, adjustments etc.)

I have the upper left black outfit finished.

Expect pictures.

This project in particular is for my SCAD portfolio. I'm applying for their fashion program.

What do you think?

Halloween was a success.

a commissioned piece for one of my best friends, zach.

max the king from where the wild things are.

i took in a giant sweater and and giant pair of cordoury pants, hacked up some other sweater bits for gloves , boots, and the tail.

The hood with ears is made from an old sweatshirt and the whiskers are wires I covered with black t-shirt scraps.

the crown was made from paper mache.

i loved how it turned out, so did he.

We wanted to be vikings.

My costume is a fully lined faux fur vest made by yours truly

underneath is a crocheted mesh net vest made from an old scarf.

the hoodie underneath is made from a cool sweater knit bolt fabric.

suede kilt skirt made from a formerly floor length QVC nightmare.

boot covers made from a moth eaten juicy couture sweater.

the helmet was made out of paper mache and stuffed horns.

His costume is made of very similiar items, done slightly differently as you can see.

his fur is a cape.

more pictures later.
